Rimmel fresher skin

On my way back from Newcastle we stopped at a service station, I can’t use any more data as I’m almost over my limit and my music was getting a bit boring so I decided to pick up at magazine. I chose glamour.

Inside the magazine there was a sample of Rimmel’s new fresher skin foundation.

It claims to be a breathable, natural finish foundation which is shine free and does not clog pores, so sounds pretty perfect.

It has an spf of 15 so you are being protected from the sun too!

This is how it looked after application:

As you can see it is quite dewy but also quite good coverage considering it’s supposed to be light coverage.

As I was having a bad morning I decided to go all out on the highlighter ready for work, tbh I’m probably wearing a bit too much make up for work but oh well it made me feel better 😂

The full size version comes in a pot, I’m not sure how I feel about that as you keep on putting your germy hands into fresh foundation that’s going on your face, I don’t know, I’ll see how it wears to see if I’ll buy a full size one, I think it was £5.99 so pretty cheap for a foundation!

Holiday to Whitley Bay (near Newcastle)

From the 5th September till the 9th I am going to be around the Whitley Bay/Newcastle area, so I shall document what goes on! I am writing this as I go so it will probably be weird reading it back as I don’t know what’s going to be happening over the next days.

Monday

We left home at 8:30 to make the long journey, I mainly just listened to my music. I did add to a couple of draft blog posts I am working on. We stopped at a little service station at about 11, when we had about 50 miles to go. We arrived at Whitley Bay at about 12:30, but couldn’t check into our caravan until 1:30. So we parked the car in the caravan park and had a walk to the beach. It was very pretty and had lots of rock pools.

We then checked into the caravan at half 1 and chilled for a bit as we had been travelling for 4 hours. At about 3 we went into Whitley Bay town which is being done up! When it’s completed it’ll be really nice! We had some fish and chips and went to the amusements! We went back to the caravan at about 6 and I had a nap 😂 I didn’t have much sleep the night before.

At half 7 we walked to St Mary’s Lighthouse which was a 5/10 minute walk from the park. It was very photogenic!

The sunset was beautiful! In the day, the lighthouse isn’t cut off on its own island so when the tides out one day we’re going to see if we can cross!

We got home at about 9 and I went to sleep to catch up from the last two nights 😂

Tuesday

Today we went to Seahouses which is about 50 miles from where we were staying so I think it was just over an hours drive we got there at about 10 and managed to get on a seal spotting boat trip at 10:30. This lasted an hour and a half and we saw lots of seals and birds!

We then had our lunch (just a pack up in the car) and had a walk around Seahouses. We went back to the car and drove to Bamburgh castle which wasn’t that far away. It was beautiful and the views were amazing!

Wednesday

Today was a long day, we left the caravan at half 7 in order the get a bus into Newcastle at 7:42. We had booked train tickets to Edinburgh as we’ve never been to Scotland so thought as we were up north we might as well have a day out there.

We got into Newcastle at about 8:45 and the train was at 9:35 so we had some time to find the station and have a rest. We got into Edinburgh at about 11am.

First, we went to find Holyroodhouse (palace) which is one of the official residences of The Queen. It was beautiful. We paid to look in the house, a display of The Queen’s dresses, a ruined abbey and little walk of the garden. Not bad for £12!

After this we walked back into town where the train station is and  had an ice cream as it was a beautiful day for Scotland!

We then decided to go on a sightseeing bus tour. We got off at the Royal Yacht Britannia which I think was the Queen’s yacht when she went on visits abroad. We didn’t pay to go on so just stood and took a few photos. We then re-caught the bus tour and completed our round.

By the time we got back to town it was 5:30, so we went to pizza express for food. After that we had a walk up to the castle and went in some tourist shops to buy gifts for people and ourselves.

Edinburgh Castle

By then it was about 7:20pm so we went to McDonald’s and bought a chocolate donut for the journey back. We caught the train at 8:02 and got back to Newcastle at 9:35.

When we got to Newcastle we went to the river to look at the bridges as we’re not planning on going back. The bus back was at 10:40 and we got back at about half 11, so we had a long 16 hour day. I am writing this at 7am on Thursday and am wondering why I’m awake so early, will definitely regret it later 😂

Thursday

We had bacon sandwiches for breakfast this morning. At about half 9 we had another walk down to st Mary’s lighthouse and I went to the top, we also had a look around the island to have a look at all the birds.

We then went back to the caravan where I managed to have a shower without getting my make up off!

At half 1 we made our way to Tynemouth which is a few miles away from Whitley Bay. We went to the castle ruins/priory and I loved it. I think I prefer ruins to castles that are still in one piece. I would love to travel around the UK and visit all the castles!

After that  we had a walk around Tynemouth then found somewhere to have chips, I had the best burger ever! It was deep fried but the cheese was inside the fried bit so it was really melted, it was beautiful!

We went home and I fell asleep for a couple of hours because I was knackered. I woke up for about half an hour and had a drink and watched a bit of death in paradise but went back to bed at 9, as soon as that had finished.

Friday

I woke up extra early this morning due to my early night last night 😂

It’s 8:30am and we’re getting ready to leave, we’re not planning on doing anything special on the way back. We want to see the Angel of the North so I’ll upload a picture of that. Apart from that and a possible stop at a service station, the holiday is over. The thing that I’m most excited to get home for is seeing my little cat again! I’m back at work tomorrow 😩. I will begin putting some more normal posts up again now 😃

Sorry for the lack of blogs this week

I’m currently on holiday and have 3/4 blogs in the process of writing, a couple are fully written but I dont have the pictures to put in them yet, so I’m not going to upload them if I am not 100% happy with it.

As soon as I get home I’ll sort myself out and will upload a few next week.

I am also blogging my holiday, I kind of wish I had uploaded it daily but it’s too late now as I’m coming home tomorrow 😂 I’ll probably upload my holiday blog on Friday/Saturday, depends what time I get back on Friday.

Here’s a sneak peak at what’s happened so far! Sun, sea, seals (top right- not very clear) and old castles/palaces!

I went to London in May this year (before I started blogging) and I am contemplating doing a write up of that experience as I was the best holiday of my life! I went with my friend and we did as much touristy stuff as we could!

What it’s like doing A levels…

The Christmas holidays are coming to an end now, time to concentrate on your exams so you can go to college/ get a place at uni/ get a job…. the pressure 😂

A levels were probably one of the best experiences of my life!I began them in September 2013 and finished them in June 2015 achieveing the grades BBC! This was probably one of my proudest moments.

I was aiming for three C’s and would have been disappointed if I got less.

So the key to success… Study, revise and understand the exam. I understand the format of A levels has changed since I left but I believe the principles are still the same.

Psychology

This subject is mainly fact based so all you have to do is remember the facts and you’ll do fine. In my mock in January I got a U because I hadn’t properly studied it as I was waiting for my teacher to finish teaching it, whereas in the actual exam in June I got an A in this particular section of it. If I were to do it again, I would probably start revising in October/November time (don’t worry it’s not too late to start now, I started revising now and got a B overall so don’t panic!) If your teacher is getting the facts from a book then get ahead! Even if not, learn your own researchers. My second year was very confusing as my teacher wasn’t the best and told us to borrow a book from the library but then contradicted herself by giving us different researchers in lesson, so when I was trying to practise with my friends we all had different researchers to one another. Very confusing. I stuck to the book as it was AQA approved.

Tip number two for psychology is don’t focus on the first exam because it’s a few days ahead of the second one! A few days is not enough to learn the content for a whole exam.

You need to focus on both of them equally up until a few days before the first exam because they’re both worth the same!

Another mistake I made was focusing too much on the exam that I knew I was good at, learning and trying to remember a whole new exam when you have just got to grips with the first one is scary, but it needs to be done! You’ll regret it on the morning of the exam remembering all the hours you spent procrastinating watching Netflix or just wasting time in general.

In the second year I also re sat one of my first year exams that I think I got a C on, I just wanted to get the best grade possible and when you’re doing A2, AS seems like a doddle! I’d definitely recommend it, I think if i didn’t re sit it I would have got a C overall.

English language

My English Language class was very small in the first year there was about 15 of us and in the 2nd year, 6 of us, so our teacher could do a lot of 1 to 1 time which I think really helped and was so much better than being in a class of 30 at school! Our teacher was really nice and always bought us food which was good motivation 😂

English language is a mixture of fact and your opinion. You need to know all the verbs, adjectives etc but you need to be able to apply them to real pieces of text.

In my first year we had the basic language stuff such as annotating a piece of text but the second section of the exam was child language aquistiton where you had to learn how children aquire language and were given some texts you had to apply it to.

In the second year the first section was the same as the first year but you had to go into more detail and the second part was the history of the English Language, so everything from the Romans/ Vikings to when the first dictionary was written etc, everything that has had an effect on our language. I found this really interesting and enjoyed it! I think I got an A on the exam because I didn’t hate it! The teacher has a big effect on how you perform, which moves me swiftly on to English Literature.

English Literature

My grades fluctuated in this subject, in the first year exam I got an A, in the second year exam I got an E. With the coursework at a B (AS) and C (A2) I got a C overall which was a relief.

In the first year for my coursework I studied twelfth night by Shakespeare,  Lysistrata, and in the exam we did the kite runner, pride and predudice, we also had to study two poets, we chose John Keats and Christina Rosetti. In the AS exam I got an A however, in the A2 exam I got an E, I don’t know whether it was because we changed teacher and my new teacher wasn’t any help at all or if the work just got too hard. In the second year, in the coursework I studies Rosetti poems and Little women (you could chose anything you wanted as long it was literary to an extent. In the exam we studied, Macbeth, Frankenstein and The Changeling. I honestly have no clue where I went wrong all my teacher could tell me was it felt like I was stuck in some mud and couldn’t get out when she read it, I was just like brilliant, you going to tell me anything else about how to improve it? 😂

So overall I got BBC which means I can go to uni in the future if I want to, I like the fact that the options there for me if I don’t find an apprenticeship!

This is a photo of my final results sheet, showing my first year and second year results

Purple eye look

So I have done this look a couple of times now and I really like it!

I use these two palettes, my makeup revolution salvation palette ‘what you waiting for’ and my sleek eye and cheek palette in the colour ‘see you at midnight’

So to begin with I used my no7 Stay Perfect Smoothing Eyeshadow in the colour nude, in my opinion, it didn’t do much but works as a good eye primer.

I then use the lightest matte colour in my makeup revolution palette to lighten the eyes.

Next, I apply the purple colour from the sleek palette and apply it in the crease of the eye.

It’s then time to blend!

I then apply the purple colour on the outer half of the eye and blend it again!

The final couple of steps are getting the dark colour next to the purple and create a wing effect, I also get a small brush and put some of the dark colour on the lower lash line.

Finally I take the gold colour and with the small applicator that comes in the palette I push it on the inner part of the lid and just quickly blend it with the purple to create more of a transition.

All that’s left to do is add some mascara and this is the finished look:
